Alabama Children First is comprised of two separate corporate entities, Children First Foundation Inc. (CFF), a 501c4 organization, and The Children First Alliance of Alabama Inc. (CFAA), a 501c3 organization. Although both CFF and CFAA are part of the same overall organization, it is necessary to have two separate organizations to enable us to do the broad range of work necessary to protect the children of Alabama.
Supporters of Children First Foundation can choose to make a contribution to Children First Foundation, The Children First Alliance of Alabama or both. A contribution to either organization will be used to foster the well-being of Alabama’s children and families.
Children First Foundation focuses primarily on the area of lobbying to effect change in the lives of Alabama’s children and families. CFF is the only organization in our state that provides a full-time advocate for children and families at the Alabama StateHouse. Our work in the establishment and protection of the 53 million dollar Children First Trust Fund, juvenile justice reform, safe teen driving legislation and our effort to establish investigation protocol for sudden infant death are just a few examples of the work that can only be funded through gifts to CFF. Therefore, we strongly encourage donors interested in supporting the broad range of Alabama Children First’s work to consider making the largest possible gift they can afford to the CFF. A donation to Children First Foundation may be deductible up to 50% on your taxes as a business expense - your tax adviser should be consulted. Click here to donate to Children First Foundation.
Donors who wish to make a 100% tax-deductible gift can do so by contributing to The Children First Alliance of Alabama. CFAA also performs vital work that helps to ensure the well-being of Alabama’s children. This is accomplished through monitoring the effectiveness of state agencies addressing the most serious issues facing Alabama's children. Mattersof particular concern to CFAA are children's physical, mental, emotional and dental health, education of at-risk children, the prevention and treatment of child neglect and abuse, child safety to include school safety, child care and after school programming, rehabilitative corrections and alternatives to long-term incarceration of juveniles, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of State's Foster Care system and other living alternatives, such as adoptions and special needs adoptions.
