Shaping Public Policy for Alabama's Children

The Children First Movement

The Children First movement created two separate entities, The Children First Alliance of Alabama, Inc and Children First Foundation.  Both organizations work to better the lives of Alabama's children.  Donations to The Children First Alliance of Alabama, Inc. are 100% tax deductible and donations to Children First Foundation are only tax deductible up to 50% as a business expense.

Children First Foundation is a 501c4 organization dedicated to improving the lives of Alabama's children and families by advocating for specific changes to public policy through legislative means.  The Foundation was formed because sstate-wide leaders and child advocates saw a need to charge into the halls of Alabama’s legislature to speak for the most vulnerable of our citizens, our children.  The Foundation's primary mission is to protect the Children First Trust Fund (over $50 million  per year) which is used to provide preventative and innovative services to children in need.

The trust fund dollars they secure each year fund programs through state agencies that serve an estimated 14,000 children and 3,500 parents.  It is important to note that Children First Foundation does not receive any of this funding - it goes directly to children programs and services.

Children First Foundation not only advocates for funding for Alabama’s children and families, but also, legislation aimed at protecting them.  They do all of this by giving the children of the state something special interests have always had: lobbyists in the state house.
