Call a Radio or TV Talk Show…
Calling a radio or television talk show is a great way to get your message out to thousands
of listeners. Contact your local TV and radio stations to see if there are any talk shows on
their schedule. If they do, and the topic you want to discuss is relevant, call in and share
brief, clear statements about current children's issues. If there is a specific bill in the
legislative process, the host may be interested in discussing the issue for a few minutes.
You can also try to contact the producer of the program and urge them to cover a show specifically
dedicated to that issue. Give the producer the name and phone number of an organization that they
could contact as a knowledgeable participant for the program. “You can contact Children First
Foundation at 334-264-3571. I'm sure they would be able to provide you with someone knowledgeable
on this issue for the program.”
Spread the Word
If the program you suggest is aired, be sure to contact your family, friends,
and other contacts. Encourage them to listen the day of the program and participate in the show by
calling in with comments.
